All reptiles are tetrapods, which are four-footed animals. All reptiles lay their eggs on land, and can only live on land due to their scaly skin. Reptiles reproduce sexually through internal fertilization; some species are ovoviviparous (lay eggs) and others are viviparous (live birth). Reptiles are ectothermic, meaning that they're cold-blooded and rely on their surrounding to heat them (Poikilotherms). Some reptiles go into brumation: a long period of time during cold weather that consists of no eating and a decreased metabolism. There are over 10,000 species of reptiles.
